Working Principle Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln
Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln is a cylindrical vessel, inclined slightly to the horizontal, which is rotated slowly around its axis. Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln to be processed is fed into the upper end of the cylinder. As the kiln rotates, the materials gradually move down towards the lower end, and may undergo a certain amount of stirring and mixing. Hot gases pass along the kiln sometimes in the same direction as the Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln process material (co-current), but usually in the opposite direction (counter-current). The hot gases may be generated in an external furnace, or may be generated by a flame inside Sponge Iron Rotary Kiln. Such a flame is projected from a burner-pipe (or 'firing pipe') which acts like a large burner. The fuel may be gas, oil or pulverized coal.

Advantages of the Spong Iron Rotary Kiln 

A. much less reduction time;

B. BPI bead pig iron coming out directly from direct reduction in RHF: 4.8 to 6.3 t/m3, (even 7.4 t/m3 when it is for mill scale): no need to crush, grind, magnetic separate or briquette the directly reduced material to raise density; 800 to 1000 ºC, good for steel making's hot charging;

C. Reduction agent coal consumption is half of tunnel kiln and traditional rotary kiln;

D. much better finished quality (much TFe, much MFe, much recovery rate, much more sales price, much less production cost)

E. land/project-area needed for BPI RHF is only 30 - 50% of tunnel kiln.
