It is primarily used for processing raw materials such as alumina bauxite, fly ash, and kaolin to produce ceramsite sand(used as a fracturing proppant in petroleum extraction) or construction-grade ceramsite.
Its core functions include dehydration,decarbonization, whitening, and the resource recovery of solid waste.

The raw material is fed into the cold end (kiln tail) of the rotating cylinder. Due to the kiln's inclination and rotation, the material moves gradually towards the hot end (kiln head). Fuel is injected and burned at the kiln head, generating high-temperature gases that flow counter-currently to the material, facilitating heat exchange and the calcination process. The calcined ceramsite sand is then discharged, cooled, and screened to become the final product
