Iron Pellet Rotary Kiln is simple in structure. It is a "great master" in the reduction iron process.
The production process is easy to control, less vulnerable parts and high operation rate. It is a equipment for calcining high standard iron ore in machinery plant, and is also widely used in metallurgical, chemical and construction industries.

The flexibility of the SL/RN process in the use of raw materials has been proven in more than 50 SL/RN rotary reduction kilns.
A typical range of raw materials either applied or tested in various plants is as follows:
Solid fuels: - Lignite, lignite briquettes and other coals with high volatile content
- Sub-bituminous and bituminous coals, even with comparatively high ash content - Anthracite and coke breeze - Char coal Iron bearing materials:
The preferred size range for the ore feed to the SL/RN kiln is as follows:
Lump ore 2 - 20 mm    Pellets 6 - 15 mm          Beach sand 0.1 - 0.5 mm            Ilmenite (25-35% Fe) 0.05 - 0.3 mm
 

 

Product Features

Iron ore, coal and dolomite or limestone as desulfurising agent are charged into the Direct reduced iron plant and heated up by a countercurrent gas flow and the partial combustion of volatiles and CO released from the charge. Reduction of the iron oxides in the solid state is achieved at temperatures between 920°C to 1050°C by means of CO, which is generated from the solid carbon by the Boudouard reaction converting the iron oxides into metallic iron.
Reduction and gasification reactions take place simultaneously within the charge
FexOy + CO --> FexOy-1 + CO2   CO2 + C --> 2 CO
and are supported by the controlled combustion of surplus CO with air blown into the kiln atmosphere along the kiln through individual air inlets.
A central burner is used for initial heating as well as additional process air supply. Coal is injected at controlled size fractions for optimum process control.
In certain cases, a limited quantity of iron ore fines can be injected from the discharge end.
The typical consumption figures per ton of DRI produced from lump ore are: Lump ore 1.46 t
