Introduction of Rotary Kiln Machine:

Rotary Kiln belongs to building material equipment, according to different materials, which can be divided into cement kiln, metallurgy chemical kiln and lime kiln. Cement kiln is used for making cement clinker and there are dry and wet methods to make cement clinker. Metallurgy chemical kiln is widely used for magnetic roasting of poor iron ore and oxidizing roasting of chrome and nickel in the steel factory; backing high-alumina mine in the refractory material factory; baking chamotte and alumina in the aluminum factory and baking chrome ore and chrome powder in the chemical plant. The Lime Kiln is used for roasting active lime in steel works and ferroalloy plants and light roasting dolomite.

The equipment can be divided into gas-burnt type calcination kiln and electric heating type calcination kiln according to the different heatsource used.

When the temperature of the calciner klin body is heated to the process requirements, the material to be calcined is sent into the calciner klin chamber by the feeding system.

The heating system adopts electrical heating radiation or burner heating. and maintains the working temperature of each area of the calciner klin by adjusting the electric heating power or adjusting the burner .

The calciner klin chamber has a certain tilt, so that the material is calcined while moving forward slowly during the slow rotation process .

The residence time of the material in the calciner klin chamber can maintain the working temperature of each area of the calciner klin by adjusting the electric heating power or the burner . 


In the cement industry, rotary kilns are an important equipment for calcining cement clinker. Working principle

Rotary Kiln Working Principle

The rotary kiln is central equipment for cement clinkering system in the new large dry processing cement production, which can be used with unit-or-twin-stream preheater, calcining combustor. 90%-95% of the raw material which has been pre-calcined feeds into the slow rotating, inclining installed rotary kiln from the rear. Under the composite effect of circumferential tilting and axial movement, the material slowly flows through the whole drum, the fuel (coal dust, oil or natural gas) sprays from kiln head into high temperature zone for burning, which produces the required heat for physical and chemical reaction of combination and crystallization of material inside the kiln. Under the function of rear blower, the burning gas stream and material counter flow the whole kiln, completing heat exchange and physical/chemical reaction. The clinkered cement is discharge to the cooler.

1.Crushing and Milling

The dry crude material will be crushed and milled first.

2.Calcination

After milling, the materials would enter the kiln outlet( high end of the cylinder) through the preheater, and then are fed into
the kiln by the tremble pipe. Meanwhile,The heating source is sprayed into kiln by burner barrel in the head of the kiln. Due to the inclination of the cylinder and slow rotation of the cylinder, the materials roll in hoop direction. During this process,They will be calcinated, reacted, decomposed in succession through the calcinating section, reaction section, decomposition section, Note:The exhaust gas are discharged by the exhaust blower and drained into the the atmosphere by chimmney after exchanging heat with the materials.

3.Cooling

Then the materials are discharged from the head of the kiln and enter the cooling device and be cooled.

4. Screening
Then they will go through the screens and final products will be conveyed to the yard. The big size materials will be sent back and processed.

Kiln head section
The kiln head is the discharge part of the rotary kiln, with a diameter greater than the diameter of the rotary kiln. It is sealed by stainless steel fish scales and the kiln body, and is mainly composed of maintenance ports, coal nozzles, trolleys, observation holes, and other parts.
Kiln body part
It is the main body of a rotary kiln, usually 30-150 meters long, cylindrical, with 3-5 rolling rings in the middle. The cylinder
is mostly processed into 3-10 sections by the factory, and welded after being transported by large trucks to the destination. The rolling ring part, also commonly known as the tire ring, is cast from molten steel, and the kiln body of the rolling ring part is slightly thicker than other kiln body steel plates due to its load-bearing capacity. The supporting tugboat is also a part of the kiln body and is connected to the foundation corresponding to the rolling ring, which is the load-bearing pillar of the entire rotary kiln. Usually, a set of rollers consists of two rollers and two blocking wheels. During normal operation, refractory bricks should be laid inside the rotary kiln.
Kiln tail section
The tail part of the kiln is also an important component of the rotary kiln, with a shape similar to the lid of a rotary kiln at
the feeding end, mainly responsible for feeding and sealing.
Rotary kiln support frame

Preheating tower

The principle is to heat the raw materials by passing the residual heat discharged from the tail of the rotary kiln through a preheating tower filled with raw materials. Adding a preheating tower can effectively reduce energy consumption and improve the quality level of finished products.
Cooling machine The cooling machine and preheater, on the contrary, are devices that quickly cool down the materials in a rotary kiln after firing. They look like a small rotary kiln, with smaller and shorter diameters, and do not require the laying of refractory bricks. They are replaced by lifting plates inside. The main function is to quickly cool the finished product.
Conveyor belt The conveyor belt is a material conveying device for rotary kilns. During use, various forms of damage often occur, such as edge layering, ulceration, defects, and cracking; Long distance longitudinal tearing, deep scratches, holes, extensive wear, covered rubber bulges or peeling, internal defects in joints, etc. Among them, longitudinal tearing is the most urgent, edge damage is the most common, and internal defects in joints are difficult to avoid. The service life after repair is the most concerned.
